PAT Testing

Portable appliance testing or PAT testing is one of the simplest ways to ensure the electrical safety of the appliances you use every day. It helps prevent accidents, protects against faults and ensures compliance with workplace safety regulations. At AJM Electrical, we provide professional PAT testing for homes, businesses and landlords across Somerton and the surrounding area. Our qualified engineers carry out inspections quickly and carefully, giving you confidence that your appliances are safe to use.

Who Needs PAT Testing?

PAT testing is recommended for any property or business where portable electrical equipment is used. This includes:

  • Offices and retail premises.
  • Schools and educational facilities.
  • Workshops, warehouses and construction sites.
  • Rental properties and holiday lets.
  • Hospitality venues such as cafés, pubs and restaurants.
  • Domestic homes with high appliance use or home offices.
From kettles and extension leads to power tools and IT equipment, every appliance that plugs into a socket can be tested to confirm it is safe.

Our PAT Testing Process

Our engineers complete every test with care and minimal disruption to your day. Each appliance is inspected, tested and recorded to industry standards.

Step One

Visual inspection checks cables, plugs and sockets for damage, overheating or wear.

Step Two

Electrical testing uses calibrated testing equipment to verify earth continuity, insulation resistance and polarity.

Step Three

Labelling and recording attaches a PAT label showing the date of testing and next recommended inspection.

Step Four

Detailed reporting provides a full record outlining all tested appliances, results and any items that require repair or replacement.
